Business plan review after one week.

Sunday, January 10, 2016.

I just sat down and re-read my business plan. I think I'll print it out and put it in my spiral to keep with me, as it's hard to remember all of them off the top of my head.

So far I'm doing pretty good. I've kept my spiral with me for notes, I tracked my outfits on my calendar. I haven't started reading a goal related book, because I'm in the middle of a 5 book novel series. I also haven't scanned any business cards in the past week. I will have to figure out how to get that done. Possibly by breaking it up; setting a smaller goal to scan 10 or 25 per day. I'm about 50/50 on the breaks, unless you count running to the scanner as a break. I'm trying and that's what matters. I feel more organized already and I'm sure I'll be adding new things to my plan as the year progresses.

I think what I need the most work on is time blocking. I have great intentions, however I get caught up in doing too many things at once. This week my main focus is going to be on getting one thing done at a time, as much as is possible. Here's a great example of this. I got on the computer to write this and then remembered I needed to issue a policy, so I stopped typing and pulled up my work desktop. I realized I needed to pull up more information from the customer, so I moved to my second monitor and that was where this page was at, so here I am typing again and I still need to get the information and issue the policy.................................. The policy is now issued and I'm back to this. As I said, I'm trying.

The most important thing is keeping these goals in front of me until they become habits. How are you doing with your goals so far?

There are only 24 hours in a day!

I've learned that I can only do so much. My business is booming, my marriage is flourishing, my personal health and fitness goals are in tip-top shape, but there is so much more going on in life. Spending time with family, spending time with friends, working on projects inside and outside of the house. Life gets completely crazy at times and it feels like the list of things to do, places to be, people to see never ends. The result: some things get put on the back burner. Like blogging. It's something I do to keep track of what I'm doing, where I am on my goals, and hopefully to motivate a few people at the same time. Here's where I'm at; Business: I am still out there networking, I have made so many new friends and am building great relationships.  I am still working on single-tasking. I KNOW that it's the key to getting things done for me. However, I still have my days where I am so busy that I lapse back into my habit of multi-tasking. I do realiz...

How would self discipline benefit you?

Picture your life a year from now if you actually accomplished the things on your list. How would this benefit your life? Seriously, just stop, close your eyes and imagine a year from now. For the past year you have ______. (Fill in the blank with something from your list.) # selfdiscipline # livingyourbestlife # lovingyourlife # happiness # workhard # besuccessful

Building Self-Discipline; Step 1

So how do we build self-discipline? First we figure out where we need self-discipline in our life. What are the areas in your life that you are struggling with? These are usually things you want to do, but for some reason you don't do them. Here are some ideas. Exercising, cooking meals, laundry, networking, de-cluttering, organizing your desk at work, yoga, meditation... the list could go on and on. Think about your list for a minute. Now, write down 2 or 3 things that you know you want to do, but keep putting off. These are things that you know would make an impact in your life. Now, next to each item, write down why you're not doing them AND why you want to do them. # selfdiscipline # lifehack # gettingstuffdone # liveyourbestlife  #jimrohnquote MW Copyright 2017
