It has been a crazy week for me so far, I can't believe it's only Wednesday.
This week, I've been giving a lot of thought to the charities I support. I am starting to feel like I'm spreading myself too thin and need to make a decision on what charities I want to focus on. I feel like I can do more good by narrowing it down. The question now, is how to do that.
I was in a Women's Leadership conference all day yesterday and learned so many things. There was so much information to take in, thankfully I wrote a ton of notes or else I would have forgotten 90% of it by today because my head is pretty full at the moment. In reading back through my notes, I found something that could apply to helping me narrow down my choices. The idea that was given was about finding your purpose. To do this we were advise to visualize ourselves at 95 years old, sitting in a rocking chair. We're talking to someone, let's say our great-grandchildren and we're telling them stories about our life. What do we want those stories to be about? I think I can easily use this to figure out what charities really speak to me because I can imagine telling my family about the charities I supported. Which ones would make me the most proud? Which ones would make me feel like my time was well spent? Which ones would I hope my family would follow in my footsteps? Which ones will I feel like made the most difference to other people?
The rest of this week I plan to work on figuring this out. I know it's going to be difficult, however I also know that to give the most that I can and the best of myself, I am going to have to figure this out.
I'm not sure at this point if I will chose one or two charities as my priorities, I guess figuring that out will be part of the process as well.
If you have #charities that you regularly support, how did you choose them? Any help and #advice would be appreciated!
Thanks,
MW
