Month 5 Organization check in Part I - Smartphone Applications

Saturday, May 21st, 2016

Here's where I currently am when it comes to my organizational apps.

I've started using Workflowy with zealous and love it. I refer to it so often, I don't know how I ever lived without it. It's so easy to organize & find everything. Every thought, every note I write down, from the measurement of windows in my home to Marketing notes. I still use the computer to enter most of my notes, but access them from my phone quite often.

Journey is the app I use to take pictures of myself so that I can remember what I wore each week. I love this app and forget maybe once every 2 weeks to take a picture and on those occasions I type it in. I love that I can see what I wore so quickly and I look at it most mornings when I'm deciding what to wear.

Cozi family calendar and lists. I will say that purchasing the upgraded "gold" version wasn't worth the money for me. I tried the upgrade so that I could have the full calendar on my phone instead of just the week. However, though you can see the full month by clicking on the week, it doesn't just show the full month at a glance and that's what I wanted. I use the Cozi calendar and still have to use the google calendar on my phone to see the month, and have to enter everything twice. On Cozi, I love that we can share the calendar and I love the shared shopping list that we each have on our phone to add things or cross them out as purchased. Finding the perfect calendar has not happened yet. If anyone knows of a great one that will let me share the calendar with my family members, as well as share lists, and have a month view that stays on the phone, I would love to know about it.

CamCard is still my business card organizer. Now that I've entered cards by business type this app is perfect. It's so much easier to store and find people by their profession than by where I met them or what groups they belong to.

Beyond these apps, I also use Kindle, FB, Twitter, Instagram, Meetup, Pinterest, Amazon, eBay, LinkedIn, and Waze. I love Waze. If anyone knows how I can make Waze the GPS in my car over the existing GPS, I would love to know. My GPS is great, but Waze is Awesome!

So, there you have it. Those are the main applications I use. I'll let you know when I find others and as always I'd love to hear your thoughts or about any apps that work for you.

The Ins and Outs of Networking

I thought I'd talk about networking for those who are just starting out in their networking journey. And maybe, just maybe, someone who's a pro, will learn something or get a new idea. When you start out on your journey of networking, you're not sure what you're going to find. If you're like me, you're a little intimidated by everyone. They all seem so put together, so confident. It feels like everyone knows everyone else and you don't know anyone! You might sit there thinking "What the heck am I doing here?" But guess what? What you're feeling is 100% normal. And guess what else? We all felt the same way when we started networking. Because I'm one of those people who remembers feeling that way, I make it a point to go out of my way to talk to newbies, show them around, introduce them to others, give them networking advice. It's funny because the very first networking group I ever attended is the one that I'm currently the ...

It's really ok to take a break

Sometimes when you're not motivated it's because your literraly burnt out. And that's ok. When you've been doing too much for too long, it's ok to take a break. However, before you start that break, write down some of the things you're going to do after the break.. This helps to keep the things you want to do at the top of your mind without feeling guilty that you're taking a break. So what do I mean by taking a break? It can be ... in any form you desire and/or can afford. We'd all love our break to be a long vacation to someplace we really want to go, but it can be as simple as taking a walk or even spending an entire weekend binge-watching your favorite shows. Just make sure it's a plan and that you know when you've had you're break, you're going to start on that "thing" you've been putting off. MW Copyright 2017
