Re-evaluating Social Media in my life

What is the purpose of social media in your life? This is the question I've been pondering for a while now. What do each of these outlets bring to me, give to me, or help me with? Facebook Twitter Instagram Snap Chat Pinterest  LinkedIn Alignable  So many people say they're using social media for their business, while others say you have to be using social media for your business. I believe that's true in some businesses - especially if you're selling a product like t shirts, jewelry, weight loss plans, or other tangible items. But, I'm not sure which really help in the service and intangible industries. With that said, I'm an insurance agent. I sell a piece of paper that gives you piece of mind and aggravation because you are obligated to buy it. Is anyone really interested in reading blogs or articles about insurance? Even insurance humor is mainly funny to insurance people. So where does that leave me with my posts? I have used it in a mostly pers

There are only 24 hours in a day!

I've learned that I can only do so much. My business is booming, my marriage is flourishing, my personal health and fitness goals are in tip-top shape, but there is so much more going on in life. Spending time with family, spending time with friends, working on projects inside and outside of the house. Life gets completely crazy at times and it feels like the list of things to do, places to be, people to see never ends. The result: some things get put on the back burner. Like blogging. It's something I do to keep track of what I'm doing, where I am on my goals, and hopefully to motivate a few people at the same time. Here's where I'm at; Business: I am still out there networking, I have made so many new friends and am building great relationships.  I am still working on single-tasking. I KNOW that it's the key to getting things done for me. However, I still have my days where I am so busy that I lapse back into my habit of multi-tasking. I do realiz

There've been 5 days in January.  Here are my firsts so far. 1st week going to the gym this year. 1st week being irritated with my husband. We're usually pretty good, but human. Happy New Year 2018!

Well, it's been a long time since I have posted a blog. I have a few drafts.... but never got around to finishing them. Blogging is really hard and I give props to those who keep up with it daily or weekly. 2017 was an amazing year. I was blessed in so many ways. My kid's are all doing great, all healthy and happy. My marriage to the love of my life is thriving, we work hard at it and make it the best it can be. After my hubby's motorcycle accident in March of 2017, I am happy to end the year with both of us having a clean bill of health. My job is better than I could ever have dreamed, I love the people I work for and with, and I have been extremely swamped with new business. We traveled a lot this year, sometimes short trips and sometimes long ones, but always had a fantastic time! Our friendships are thriving. It's hard to spend time with all of our friends the way we would like, but we've squeezed in as many as we could and will continue to do so this year.

One way to get motivated

Today I'm going to tell you my biggest secret of how I get motivated.... You know, here it is, Sunday morning today I'm going to get xy and z done and ugghhh.... I just don't feel like getting started. Are you ready for my secret? Here it is. I look at Pinterest. I type in whatever it is I need to do and read people's posts about it. It could be cleaning, organizing, de-cluttering, painting, etc., I read a post (or 2) and boom, I'm motivated. It works every time. Typically when I look at Pinterest, I'm not able to do all of the things I read about and I feel so motivated to do them right at that moment, but, I'm in the car (with my husband driving) or I'm on my lunch break, etc.... But when I'm about to get started, it's the perfect time to read those posts and get myself in gear. PS. If you don't have Pinterest, you should get it OR you can just look on Google and find similar posts. HOWEVER, be warned that Pi

Make it a priority to get a good night's sleep!

When there are days/weeks/months/years that you have all of these plans and things you want/need to get done, sleep is usually one of the first things to go. We stay up late trying to get things done, we wake up early to get things done or simply because we have kids to take care of or a job to go to. And before we know it, our bodies have gotten used to 4 or 5 hours of sleep a night. Try to get 7-8 hours of sleep and you'll find that you are more focused and productive during the day. You're mind is sharper, it's easier to stay on task and you'll get more accomplished. If you have trouble falling asleep, there are many things you can do to help you with that. Yoga or just stretching all over before bed. White noise machines Meditation Take a shower right before bed using lavender scented body wash There are many online resources to help you find many more ways to fall asleep faster. My husband will tell you that I fall asleep faster than anyone he h

It's really ok to take a break

Sometimes when you're not motivated it's because your literraly burnt out. And that's ok. When you've been doing too much for too long, it's ok to take a break. However, before you start that break, write down some of the things you're going to do after the break.. This helps to keep the things you want to do at the top of your mind without feeling guilty that you're taking a break. So what do I mean by taking a break? It can be ... in any form you desire and/or can afford. We'd all love our break to be a long vacation to someplace we really want to go, but it can be as simple as taking a walk or even spending an entire weekend binge-watching your favorite shows. Just make sure it's a plan and that you know when you've had you're break, you're going to start on that "thing" you've been putting off. MW Copyright 2017
