Happy May Day!!

I'm super excited looking at the month ahead. It's going to be great!

I love that Sunday's (for the most part) have become a day for me to refocus myself on my goals. It's a way for me to make sure I'm sticking to my plan and trying all of the organizational ideas that I want to try. Remember, some will work for me and some won't. The same goes for you. (And when Sunday's don't give me the time, Monday mornings work just fine.)

One very important task I do on Sunday's is looking at the week ahead and making sure my calendars are in sync. Some of the networking groups I belong to meet every week, however other's are bi-weekly and with each group come different responsibilities such as speaking at a meeting, or running the meeting because someone else is going to be out. Then you add in meetings with clients, sales reps, etc... along with personal obligations that come up, and the week can get a little crazy. That's why it's important for me to make sure I'm in sync and review what's ahead.

Sunday's are a day that I review my social media and set the schedule for posts if I have a particularly busy week ahead. I try to write in my blog and spend time on my vision board and now, my vision workbook. If I'm speaking I've written notes for the speech, invariably at different times and I now have to put my notes in order and make them into a speech.

I also try to take a few minutes to review my organizational goals. This helps me figure out what is working and what isn't. What I'm doing well and what I need to work on.

I can tell you right now, I still haven't blocked time or set a timer and this taking a break thing is killing me. I think about it often, but I just can't stop doing what I'm doing to take the break. Last Friday I put my lunch in the microwave and went back to my desk. I forgot about it for almost 2 hours! It's difficult for me to un-focus when I'm focused on work. Actually when I'm focused on anything. I truly block everything else out and focus all of my attention to the task at hand. That can be good or in the case of my lunch and breaks, not so good.

As I always say, I'm a work in progress. How did you do with your goals this past week?

The Ins and Outs of Networking

I thought I'd talk about networking for those who are just starting out in their networking journey. And maybe, just maybe, someone who's a pro, will learn something or get a new idea. When you start out on your journey of networking, you're not sure what you're going to find. If you're like me, you're a little intimidated by everyone. They all seem so put together, so confident. It feels like everyone knows everyone else and you don't know anyone! You might sit there thinking "What the heck am I doing here?" But guess what? What you're feeling is 100% normal. And guess what else? We all felt the same way when we started networking. Because I'm one of those people who remembers feeling that way, I make it a point to go out of my way to talk to newbies, show them around, introduce them to others, give them networking advice. It's funny because the very first networking group I ever attended is the one that I'm currently the ...

It's really ok to take a break

Sometimes when you're not motivated it's because your literraly burnt out. And that's ok. When you've been doing too much for too long, it's ok to take a break. However, before you start that break, write down some of the things you're going to do after the break.. This helps to keep the things you want to do at the top of your mind without feeling guilty that you're taking a break. So what do I mean by taking a break? It can be ... in any form you desire and/or can afford. We'd all love our break to be a long vacation to someplace we really want to go, but it can be as simple as taking a walk or even spending an entire weekend binge-watching your favorite shows. Just make sure it's a plan and that you know when you've had you're break, you're going to start on that "thing" you've been putting off. MW Copyright 2017
