Life is short

Life is short

This past week we had two deaths in our life. Our neighbor that we've been good friends with since we moved here almost 8 years ago, died suddenly at 63 years old. Then literally the next morning, my cousin who was just 44 passed in her sleep. I grew up living across the street from my cousin and we were only 3 years apart in age.

What I've felt since these past 4 days is a deep sense of regret. Regrets that I didn't talk to both of them more often. Regrets that I didn't go to Oklahoma and see my cousin who hasn't been back here in 10 years. She most likely couldn't afford it, I could easily have afforded to visit her.

As I look forward in my life, I know this one thing. I want to have as few regrets going forward as possible.

Note to those reading this:
  • Don't wait for deaths to make yourself stop and take note of your life.
  • What things are important to you that you're not doing?
  • What things are not important to you that you are doing?

I'd love to hear what has happened in your life to cause you to realize how short life is and what changes you made because of it. Share your story in the comments below.

Spending time with family, spending time with friends, working on projects inside and outside of the house. Life gets completely crazy at times and it feels like the list of things to do, places to be, people to see never ends. The result: some things get put on the back burner. Like blogging. It's something I do to keep track of what I'm doing, where I am on my goals, and hopefully to motivate a few people at the same time. Here's where I'm at; Business: I am still out there networking, I have made so many new friends and am building great relationships.  I am still working on single-tasking. I KNOW that it's the key to getting things done for me. However, I still have my days where I am so busy that I lapse back into my habit of multi-tasking. I do realiz...

The Ins and Outs of Networking

I thought I'd talk about networking for those who are just starting out in their networking journey. And maybe, just maybe, someone who's a pro, will learn something or get a new idea. When you start out on your journey of networking, you're not sure what you're going to find. If you're like me, you're a little intimidated by everyone. They all seem so put together, so confident. It feels like everyone knows everyone else and you don't know anyone! You might sit there thinking "What the heck am I doing here?" But guess what? What you're feeling is 100% normal. And guess what else? We all felt the same way when we started networking. Because I'm one of those people who remembers feeling that way, I make it a point to go out of my way to talk to newbies, show them around, introduce them to others, give them networking advice. It's funny because the very first networking group I ever attended is the one that I'm currently the ...
